Introduction about the department of organization structure:-

Senior Geologist Office, Department of Mines & Geology,Ground water  Govt order No:CG24.MGS87 dated:10-03-1987 accordingly date:01-04-1987  this office is working under Zilla  panchayath ,since from past 25 years. Department working for scarcity, drinking water, water supply, Industrial bore, private, Government & non-government organization these crisis  office works for failed well comity. Irrigation,indudustries and personal purposes technical advices given by if proper technical fees and service tax was paid.The failed well inspection is carried out under the committee called three man committee, where Tahshildar  is the chair person under his guidance & presence failed well inspection is carried out & disposed and by this well. Every year watershed programme has been carried out, under this programme  the number of irrigation details, Yield detail, crop details are collected for Ground water Assessment, Ground water quality check and also to find remedy for the scarcity of drinking water & the presence of MWS, PWS in the village and also to construct the Artificial recharging structure in order to recharge the Bore-wells is the major technical programmers of this department requisition & proposals letters from the district and Taluk. Asst. executive Engineers, ZP Engineers, Sub division officers.To over come the task force, cap 99 and Scarcity schemes and order to overcome all rural drinking water problems department helped by giving technical advice to construct the check dams.

In water level monitoring Bore-well, the trend & Base samples are collected & Chemical analysis are carried our to each sample to  test water quality. For over exploited areas construction of Artificial recharging structure programme are conducted under the guidance of R and D section ,head office, Bangalore with practical implementation.                                     

All over the District in 10 Taluk Tahsildar Asst Executive engineer, Jointly carried out an inspection to over come drinking water scarcity & to recharge the Dry bore-wells, hydro fracturing the bore-well reports has been prepared & sended to the DC, Chief executive officer for further process.

Programmes and schemes Highlights:-

1. watershed studies (4D3D8):-
   In the year 2010-11 Micro watershed 4D3D8 involves an area of chikkanayanahalli, Tiptur,Sira and Gubbi Taluks. Total surveyed villages 78, Total area covered 357 sq.km Groundwater surfed was made . In this area totally 2138 inventory well details, 78 water samples, Crop details and Geohydro information was collected.
2. Technical advices:- In this year under the guidance of Head office field programmes was Managed is mentioned below.
3. Geo hydrological survey:- No application was received for bore-wells site selection .
4. Geophysical survey:- By this survey total 75 application was received for site selection for bore-wells.On the basis of this survey In ANNEXURE-1 details are given.
5. Drinking water bore-wells technical advices:- In Tumkur district 10 taluks sacristy site selected for borewells. P.R.E.D Geologist were involved in 10 taluks of Tumkur district by GHS/GPS site selected for new borewells Senior Geologist involved along with particular Geologist of the Taluks for inspection and Technical advices.
6. Observation wells:- In Tumkur district 90 O.B.wells are installed monthly static water levels recorded in this O.B.wells . In this year 682 recordings are taken.National hydrology scheme 28 Digital water level recorders(DWLR) are installed in the district. These DWLR’s record water levels frequently by 6 hours once. In the this year 308 recordings  are taken. Manually & by DWLR data retrive by laptop every month by the office Geologist. These information stored in office computer and these information send by e-mail to Head Office.
7. Water samples:- Tumkur district has 90 O.B.wells in these wells 55 samples base samples war collected. In this samples higher variation in Minerals was recollected in the month of September and January55 base samples was collected 13 trend samples was identified and analysis report was taken. Watershed field programmes C.N.Halli taluks water quality studs total 78 water samples chemical analysis report taken from Head office.
8. Ground water Artificial recharge structures:- Over exploited Ground water is common know a days for recharging Ground water is made by ARS are infiltration well, check-dam, infiltration pond ect In this year Tumkur taluk C.T.kere and Madhugiri taluks Gubalagutte, Kunigal , Thimmanahalli .04 Check-dam was constructed by this office.
9. Special studies:- In this year Madhugiri and Pavagada town water quality study 38 water samples collected and analysis report taken from Head office.
